Naturally is the debut album by J. J. Cale released in 1972. Cale, who was raised in Oklahoma, first tasted success in 1964 when singer Mel McDaniel scored a regional hit with Cale’s composition Lazy Me. From there Cale moved to California and worked at Leon Russell’s home studio as a chief engineer and began performing at places like the Whiskey A Go Go. With Johnny Rivers already performing there regularly, club owner Mario Mancini rechristened John Cale as .

Naturally is the debut album by J. Cale. First released in 1972, it includes his song "After Midnight", which had been recorded first by Eric Clapton in 1970. Cale, who was languishing in obscurity at the time, had no knowledge of Clapton's recording of "After Midnight" until it became a radio hit in 1970. Cale recalled to Mojo magazine that when he heard Clapton's version playing on his radio, "I was dirt poor, not making enough to eat and I wasn't a young man. I was in my thirties, so I was very happy. It was nice to make some money.

Cale released his debut album Naturally in 1972, not knowing this would be the beginning of the so-called Tulsa-sound. A lazy, rolling Boogie that contradicted all the commercial styles of Boogie, Blues, and Country-Rock that was popular at the time. The albumincludes "Call Me The Breeze" & "After Midnight". 180 gram audiophile vinyl. Cale has written several hits for other musicians and recorded more than fifteen albums which makes him one of the most successful - and lasting - singer- songwriters of his generation.

Naturally was the debut album of JJ Cale and was released in 1972. The album was recorded after Eric Clapton’s ‘After Midnight’ cover in an effort to take advantage of the success of the song. It was the beginning of the so-called ‘Tulsa sound’ and the legend JJ Cale. Producers Audie Ashworth. Writers Clyde Beavers & . Roll On. Show all albums by .

Naturally was the first solo album Cale recorded and it featured what would become his calling card, minimalistic guitar/vocal interplay and a laid back vibe. This is a short, 12 song record that brings to mind desert settings and low key affairs. It also features his one hit song, Crazy Mama, his only song to ever chart which is surprising to me since at least half these songs are more melodious and engaging. While the meat of this album is Cale’s singing and fretwork he is able to avoid creating tedious music often associated with the sing/songwriter stereotype.

Audio CD, Audiobook, CD, July 2, 2013. Then my husband brought home the Eric Clapton tribute album and I have barely stopped listening. So of course I had to get JJ Cale's original and let me tell you it stands up even after all these years. What a talent JJ Cale was. Is, actually. Think I'll go put this on now, it makes me happy.
