Victor August Herbert (February 1, 1859 – May 26, 1924) was an English- and German-raised American composer, cellist and conductor. Although Herbert enjoyed important careers as a cello soloist and conductor, he is best known for composing many successful operettas that premiered on Broadway from the 1890s to World War I. He was also prominent among the tin pan alley composers and was later a founder of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP).

Notes

"A Capitol Recording released in Australia exclusively through World Record Club."

Australian WRC pressing, sourced from original stampers and featuring unique sleeve art. Issued as a regular release in May 1966, then offered as an 'ambassador' LP that August and October - unlikely to be any pressing variations. Mono and stereo versions have an identical sleeve and the same number on the back (T/4042) - the mono version has "T-4042" on beige 'strobe' labels, while the stereo has "ST-4042" on green 'strobe' labels. There is a printed "stereo" rosette on the back, and the mono has a red sticker with "mono" placed over this (though these tend to drop off with age).
