After being disappointed by ECHOLYN's 2011 eponymous album, but still enamored with Raymond Weston's remarkable vocal power, I decided to still give the band another chance and check their more renowned album SUFFOCATING THE BLOOM, acclaimed for being oh so good just like the good ole 70s. And lemme tell you how it's a fair enough claim, if not an underestimation. When it comes to ECHOLYN's second eponymous album, you can't dismiss the band's warm and catchy melodies, but you can certainly dismiss the safe and uninteresting arrangements. I don't know about you, but I like experimentalism in my morning bowl of milk and crunchy prog rock.

Echolyn is a music studio album recording by ECHOLYN (Symphonic Prog/Progressive Rock) released in 1991 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette.

Echolyn is the 1991 debut album by the progressive rock band Echolyn. The Great Men (8:30). On Any Given Nite (5:01). Clumps of Dirt (4:20). Peace in Time (6:35). Meaning and the Moment (7:24). Breath of Fresh Air (3:42). Until It Rains (5:23). The Velveteen Rabbit (4:55). Ray Weston – lead and backing vocals, bass (11)

Echolyn is an American progressive rock band based in eastern Pennsylvania. Echolyn was formed in 1989 when guitarist Brett Kull and drummer Paul Ramsey, members of a recently split cover band called Narcissus, joined with keyboardist Chris Buzby to form a new band to focus on original songs. They were soon joined by fellow Narcissus veteran Ray Weston on vocals and bassist Jesse Reyes, and quickly began playing live and recording their eponymous debut album, which was released in 1991

The musical collections on this album were recorded, produced, and mixed during the spring and summer of 1991. These songs represent our first year of writing and playing together. We simply describe them as honest. Seize the Day! All music, except Shades, recorded at Echolyn practice and recording studio. Vocals and Mixdown at Forge Recording Studio. Shades recorded at The Warehouse. Matrix, Runout: 12904A7 02.

echolyn (which the band itself always writes with a lowercase "e") was formed in 1989 when guitarist Brett Kull and drummer Paul Ramsey, members of a recently split cover band called Narcissus, joined with keyboardist Chris Buzby to form a new band to focus on original songs. They were soon joined by fellow Narcissus veteran Ray Weston on vocals and bassist Jesse Reyes, and quickly began playing live and recording their eponymous debut album, which was released in 1991. During the recording of that album, Reyes was replaced on bass by Tom Hyatt.
